Newbie Question

I see all these neat blogs that I'd like to snag their buttons or even put the blog hops I've been following on my sidebar. But I don't know how to do it. I see how it says take our button but when I go to try to put it on Blogger doesn't recognize it. It asks for a URL. I am just not that great with code. Hehehe.What am I doing wrong? Is there another way I should do it? Thanks for all the help!

I'm not sure what or if you are doing anything wrong? Did you copy & paste all of the code?

I did. But am I suppose to place it where it says put your gadget here in the design portion of the page element? Hee I hope that made sense. Cause when I look over the gadgets it gives you an option to do one of your own so I hit that one and I guess its looking for a url and not a code. So I don't even know where to start after I pick up the code. I don't know where to place the code. I hope that made sense and I just didn't confuse you or me more.
