Tag Your It!

I was tagged in this fun get to know type game over at

The way to play this little game is to answer the 8 questions the person who tags you comes up with. Tag 8 bloggers of your own and come up with 8 more questions for them to answer. If you get tagged, its your turn :)

Let the fun begin!

Here are her questions and my answers

*How many children to you have?
I have 4. 2 of them I inherited when I got married.

*How did you meet your spouse or significant other? (if you have one)
Hehehe. We actually met online. In the dark ages when it was just getting popular.

*What is your favorite holiday?
I'm not to keen on holidays truth be told. So don't have a favorite. Well unless you count Valentine's Day cause that's my anniversary. But even when I was a kid I hated that holiday and would wear black for the occassion. Can't say that to much now!

*Where do you live now and do you like it?
I live about 45 minutes from where I grew up. I absoultly love it and think its a great place to raise kids.

*What is your favorite Hobby? (besides Blogging)
Scrapbooking.

*What is your favorite food?
Mexican

*What is your ideal vacation?
I would love to go somewhere tropical one day. Though I did go to Paupa New Guinea one year.

*What is your favorite movie?
Again, I don't have the attention span or the want to watch a movie over and over again so can't really say what my favorite movie is.

What is the oddest thing you ever did on Halloween?
I don't think I do a lot of odd things when it comes to Halloween.

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?

No I don't think so. Unless you count all those paranormal shows you see on tv. Than I have. :P

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?

Probably last year as I still have a kid who likes to trick and treat with his parents. I'll probably dress up in my ren fair clothes this year. I think that's what I did last year. I know boring but hey gotta put good use to that outfit!

I like all candy. Save for that almond joy stuff. *gag*

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?

I like the ones that get you when you least expect it or messes with your mind. Something like The Hand That Rocks The Cradle. So not something nessicarly with gore. But the scary movies I remember watching when I was a kid is Nightmare on Elm Street, Pet Cemetary, Friday the 13th. I have decided no way am I ever going to watch the Hellraiser movies, Halloween, or Saw ones.

Wandering Wednesday

I've been trying to blog hop but been a little late doing that today so my usual haunts are already closed but this one is still open!

Whatcha Say Wednesday

Ok this weeks questions for the meme are..........drum roll......................

1. Do you have any birthmarks? If so where?
No I don't think so. But my daughter does. One on her belly and another on the back of her leg.

2. Where did you last go on vacation, where are you going next?
I went to Vegas to go see some friends. We are talking about going to Reno over Christmas with the kids.
3. What is your favorite physical feature on yourself?
I don't think I have a favorite. But I know that my husband likes my hair as I have grown it long.

Bonus!

Look around the room find something that begins with an A, B, and C. What did you find?

1. Apple I Phone
2. Bottle of Water
3. Computer

Heehehe so maybe I cheated a little but there you have it!

Random Dozen

1. What scares you the most
A) Physically
I've had so much crap happen to me when I was a kid that I don't think I'm as scared of what may happen to me physically. But if someone were to take my kids away I'd defintly have a moment. Guess that fits better with emotionally.

B) Emotionally
Losing my family. I am pretty family oriented and that would be the end of the world to me if I lost my kids or husband to death.

Why does it scare you, and how do you cope?
It scares me because my little family is the world to me and my safe haven. But I believe in a God and though sometimes I feel like I don't hear him and I may not like what he does I know in the end that he has good intentions for me or a life lesson for me to see. That's how I cope.

2. What comes to mind when you read the phrase, "Nothing gold can stay?"
I think its refering to fall and the color of the leaves etc.

*There's talk that this Meme may phase out and only be posted once a month so http://2nd-cup-of-coffee.blogspot.com/ has decided to ease the transition by only putting up 2 questions.*

This Is Probably Petty

but I'm going to talk about it anyways. I am angry at my step son. Sure I've known him since he was 6 and I should refer to him as my son but at moments its blantly clear that he is my step son as I feel like I have no bond with him. Anyways, where my computer is its in the living room. My little haven as no one really frequents that area. But today his dad decided to change where he puts his lap top and has made a 'station' here in my domain. I guess I don't like sharing.

But that's not what I'm angry about. I'm angry at this kid cause he keeps making bad choices and than thinking he does not have to pay the consquences for it. For example, he got caught stealing for it and is now on probation. But my husband and mil are fighting that as what he was charged with (burglary) was not the offense he did. Yada, yada, yada. Anyways, he got all upset when he got his freedom taken away and didn't get it when his dad pulled the reins tighter on him.

Maybe I'm a little angry at the husband to. Because he's always been the feel good kind of Dad and than when he has to go be stern the kids look at him funny. So yeah upset with the step son on that one. But what really nailed it for me was yesterday. His grandfather was coming to pick him up and A was outside waiting on him. When Grandpa came to get him he asked what A was doing outside and he told his grandfather he had a hater inside (that Grandpa did) and so was saving the trouble of interacting or something stupid like that. He was refering to me. Hello. Let's just add to the family drama. When A got confronted by his Dad about this he was all like well its not like he doesn't already know when he asked her how she was doing she just walked out. But holy crap kid its not like I asked you to stir more crap.

The reason why I have chosen to not talk to my FIL is because he's one of the fakest people I know and I just don't deal well with fake people. When we were first having issues with A he blamed me and my daughter for the reason why A was asked to leave the house when it was my husband's doing. And than I had a confict with my step daughter this past summer and he immediatly labled me as a criminal and a child abuser. I know as a Christian your suppose to turn your cheek and such. But how many times do I let myself get walked over by in laws? When all I wanted was to have some sort of relationship with them.

Being a parent is hard. Being a step parent, well to be frank can be hell on earth. Especially when you do not have support like you should.

Maybe its inapporiate to write all of this. But I don't care. This is my blog and I'll say what I want. I'm not going to apologize for what I post. But at least I feel just a little better. Not much but just a little.

*Sigh*

Books

I am a lover of books. So I thought I'd share a couple of books I just got done with. The first one is  Things I Want My Daughters To Know. I actually picked this book up at a Barnes and Nobles as I had a gift card and I was overwhelmed with my choices. It was the title that caught my attention first as I do have 2 daughters myself. This is a definte real life chick lit kind of book. I tend to not read these but I thought it was a good read. Its about a Mom who dies of cancer and she leaves a journal for her 4 daughters to read after she's gone and the life lessons they can learn from it.

The second book was by Patrica Briggs Mercy Thompson Homecoming. I am a big Mercy Thompson fan. I'm not really into comics but I thought I'd give it a try. I liked it and it was a quick read. You don't have to be up to date with the Mercy Thompson books to figure out who is who. I thought it was a good stand alone book.

Anyways the next time you are looking for something new to read maybe you'll give these two books a try.

*This post was of my own opinon. I was not paid to offer it or reimbursed for the books etc. *

This Thing Called Life

I am breaking my own 'rule' of posting on a weekend. Well because life has been crazy. I can't seem to get back into blogging since my Vegas trip. And well life has been chaotic at best. So by the time I do get on the computer I have no desire to write but simply to read others posts. I know most times I do blog hops and meme's but even that has just been to much work lately.

I've had to deal with kids mostly. Have to figure out how to school a boy. That's been my biggsest stress. He had a total meltdown at cub scouts the other day and it blew me away. I just want what is best for him. It breaks my heart when I feel like I can't do anything for him. Than the other boy. He can't seem to make the right choices that he needs to and keeps ending up in trouble. This time legally. At least the girls are doing okay. Even if one is mouthy.

So on top of that I get a call from back east. My father was in ICU for a while. And I was wondering if this would end up being THAT call later. It didn't as he's getting better. But I'm so mixed up in how I should feel about that. Because I don't have this great father daughter relationship. Well for one we live on opposite coasts. My parents split when I was 5 and I've only seen him sporadically and well he doesn't really make an effort to stay in touch. Than my mother calls me to tell me she thinks she has shingles and she has pain. So yeah. I really hate this thing called getting older. Just last week, I had 2 friends have to bury their father's. I know, I know its a part of life. It doesn't make it easier though.

I still don't know what my 'voice' is on this blog. But maybe it will help even when I ramble. I guess what I mean by voice is I don't think I have a certain theme with this blog. Its a mish mash of things. Eccentric I guess? Hee. My playground of thoughts and what nots.

I've also had to change my life  around as I feel like I have to sit next to my boy when he does his homework to make sure he stays on task etc. Its very time consuming and overwhelming. I can't even imagine what it is he must be feeling. If I'm getting overwhelmed helping him what must he be feeling trying to do the work? We are getting him tested to see what else is going on with him learning wise. We have applyed for a charter school that belives in homeschooling. I'm nervous and excited about that. But with all the things that has been happening pertaining to him I think that is the best call we can make for him right now.

I guess this post is a brain dump of what is going on in my head. It's not a post about rainbows and flowers. But again that is not what life is about. You get the clouds and the rain. Just depends on how you handle it. Me? Sometimes, I just want to shake my fist or throw a temper tantrum and have someone else take care of me. I'm suppose to be the grown up here and I'm suppose to take care of things. Somtimes, I just really don't want to. Guess that's a part of being human.

So needless to say I'm not going to apologize for my lack of posts though I feel guilty about that. But this is suppose to be my fun spot and this is my little haven. I've always believed in that thought of if its not fun anymore take a break or don't do it. Hee. I'm not at that point. I gues I'm saying there may be times that I'm just quiet but I will return as soon as I can. Thank you to all who's still sticking with me. Its appericated.

Are you living the dream??

I like to think so. I never thought I'd get to be a wife, and a mom and top of that get to stay home. Just figured I'd be a single parent and having to work to bring the money home.

Is this what you imagined your life would be like?
No not at all.

I'm coming for dinner, what will you make for me??
Well my husband likes to tease me that he married me for the bulgogi (Korean bbq) so that's probably what I would make with rice and kimchee.

What's your favorite cuss word?
I don't like to cuss cause I think it just sounds dirty and makes a person sound ignorant. Its not to say I don't do it especially when I am mad. When that happens the F word seems to be my favorite.

Tell me one thing you would change about anyone's blog and why?
I haven't come across anyone's blog I'd like to change. I figured a personal blog is like expressing yourself so why knock that down?

What is your biggest blogging pet peeve?
When a person doesn't remember they have 'met' you before. I am sure I have done that to!

What's your favorite tv show this season? I need a new show! :)
It seems all the new shows I have liked keep getting canned. But I have been keeping my eye on Nikita

What's your favorite 'down' time {nothing computer related}?
Sleep!

I Wanna Talk About Me!

The Questions:

1. Part time, Full time, or no time?
Hahaha. Well I don't work outside of the home. But I defintly think my job is full time. Especially with my 4th grader.

2. What do you do for a living?
I am a SAHM. In my prievious life I worked in a group home for SED kids.

3. Scale of 1 to 10-- how much do you love your job?
It depends on the day. At times I give it a 1 and other times its a 10. But I do feel blessed that I get to stay at home as I know not everyone gets to do that who wishes they could.

4. What does your typical work day attire consist of?
Whatever is comfortable and whatever the weather is like.

5. When you were a kid, what did you always say you were going to be when you grew up?
A Vet or a writer

6. Is your job a job or a career?
A career

7. I hate commuting! What do you do when you’re stuck in traffic?
If I'm not the driver I play with my phone. If I'm the driver I just endure it or complain or turn the radio up

3. My greatest accomplishment in life thus far is getting married and having my babies.

7.  This week is over and bring on the weekend. Woo hoo!

Rock N Roll Fridays

Hi I'm DJ KathyA! Welcome to Rock 'n Roll Fridays. We are like other memes in that we will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their lyrics. Each of our questions will be based on the lyrics. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked John Cougar Mellencamp. The song's lyrics are in bold.

1. HURTS SO GOOD “When I was a young boy, Said put away those young boy ways

Now that I'm gettin' older, so much older, I long for those young boy days"

What was the first “grown up” thing you did and when?
I think the first grown up thing I did was when I went out of state for college. I remember being thrilled when I opened my first ever bank account. Well checking account.

2. JACK AND DIANE “Suckin' on chili dog outside the Tastee Freeze

Diane's sittin' on Jacky's lap, He's got his hand between her knees”

What do YOU order at a Tastee Freeze/Dairy Queen kind of place?
I am a sucker for soft serve cones. Vanilla please.

3. PINK HOUSES “There's a black man with a black cat livin' in a black neighborhood

He's got an interstate runnin' through his front yard, You know he thinks that he's got it so good

And there's a woman in the kitchen cleanin' up the evenin' slop, And he looks at her and says, "Hey darlin', I can remember when you could stop a clock."

What is YOUR favorite “evenin’ slop”?
Well meal wise I could eat Mexican food every day of the week. Snack wise probably something nutty.

4. I NEED A LOVER “I need a lover that won't drive me crazy, Some girl that knows the meaning of a

Hey hit the highway”…

What was the last thing a lover did that drove YOU crazy?
Trying to fix a situation and putting his own spin on it. Putting words in other people's mouths etc.

5. AIN’T EVEN DONE WITH THE NIGHT “Well I don't know no good come-ons, And I don't know no cool lines, I feel the heat of your frustration, I know it's burnin you up deep down inside”

What is your best “pick up” line?
Hahaha. I don't think I have one. Thank goodness I haven't had to use one in over a decade.

6. CRUMBLIN DOWN “Saw my picture in the paper, Read the news around my face, And now some people don't want to treat me the same”

Were you ever in the newspaper, on TV or the radio?
I don't think so. Unless you count the school newspaper. In high school I was the photographer and than later the co editor.

7. PAPER IN FIRE “Paper in fire, Stinkin' up the ashtrays, Paper in fire, Smokin' up the alleyways”

Have you ever smoked? What is your favorite smoking product. Cigar? Cigarette?
When I was 12 I tried a cigarette with my cousin.I didn't particualrly care for it.

8. AUTHORITY SONG “Well, I fight authority, Authority always wins

Well, I've been doing it since I was a young kid, I come out grinnin'”

What is your favorite rule to disobey?
Most likely the speed limit.

9. R.O.C.K. IN THE USA “Voices from nowhere, And voices from the larger towns, Filled our head full of dreams, Turned the world upside down”

Who was your first favorite rock n roll group or singer?
U2 don't know if they are nessicarly rock n roll but I still have a love affair with them.

10. SMALLTOWN “Well I was born in a small town, And I can breathe in a small town, Gonna die in a small town, Ah, that's prob'ly where they'll bury me”

What is the best part about living in a small town?
Community

11. CHERRY BOMB “That's when a smoke was a smoke,

And groovin' was groovin', And dancin' meant everything, We were young and we were improvin', Laughin', laughin' with our friends”

When and where was the last dance you attended?
Ummm hmmm. Maybe a New Year's Eve celebration a few years back?

12. NO EXPRESSION “Yes, There's a man that I know, With no expression, He's got none at all”

What’s your favorite expression?
I don't know!

13. CHECK IT OUT “A million young poets, Screamin' out their words, Maybe someday, Those words will be heard, By future generations, Ridin' on the highways that we built”

Do you have a favorite poem or at least a favorite poet?
The poet that comes to mind for me is Shel Silverstein. I loved him as a kid and appericate him as an adult.

Five Question Friday

1. What is your favorite Halloween candy?

I love anything that has chocolate and carmel in it. I use to be a fan of Reeses Peanut Butter cups but leaning more towards Snickers/Mars. Needless to say I don't have a specific Halloween candy I like but all year round chocolate!

2. Do you fold your socks?
Nope. I hardly wear socks as it is and at times just wear mismatched socks if I need to.

3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?
Hahahaha. Two things come to mind. Its HARD to be a step parent. And that your in laws will not love you just because your married to their son.

4. What is the most significant difference between you and your significant other?
He likes order. Household wise. I need to see things in front of  me or I will forget about them so I am okay with clutter.

5. What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Loyal
Passionate
Family Oriented

Design It Chic likes to always ask a question with her hop. So here's her question.

What do you prefer: rainy but warmer weather or cooler but clear sky?

And my answer: I think I would like the cooler but clear sky. I like the rain but I don't like warm weather and rain mixed together as that would just be to humid for me!

I'm Still Here

and recovering from my Vegas getaway. It was defintly something I needed. Spent most of my time indoors and hanging out. This was the most bling I got from there. (The crown that is on the purse.) Didn't even hit up the casinos or anything. Even managed to make it to church on Sunday. I can't wait to do it again next year! Its always good to see my friends that I role play with online. I don't take that for granted!

Down Syndrome Awareness Month

October is known as breast cancer month. But there are also other worthy causes to think about also. Such as Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Everyone deserves to be respected even those that are 'special.'

I Wanna Talk About Me!

*I don't know why this picture went this way but that's my other Halloween wreath I talk about further down.*

1. What is your favorite Fall scent?
I like cinnamon apple and carmel so how about I go with two scents.

2. Pies: Pumpkin or Apple?
Pumpkin with whipped cream. Yum.

3. Do you separate your summer and winter clothes? If so, have you put away your summer clothes yet?
With the way the weather is around here there's not much distinction between my summer and winter clothes save for tank tops.

4. Do you decorate your house for Fall?
I use to when the kids were little but I did make these recently.

They are wreaths made with Halloween fabric. The husband asked me to make the orange and black one.
5. What are you looking forward to most this Fall?
It seems things slow down a little in the fall and people are home more. I say seems because actually we are a little busy till November with soccer.

6. Halloween is coming up! What are you (and your kids, if applicable) dressing up as for Halloween?
I know that my 9 year old has talked about dressing up as Greg from Diary of a Wimpy Kid for his school parade as they are encouraging a book parade. But he wants to be a ninja Halloween night. I don't know if I will dress up. If I do it may just be my ren outfit I bought a couple years back.

7. Just Lisa’s birthday is this Fall! What are you getting her?
How about my friendship and adoration for her meme? Hee and of course well wishes!
